Having a long-term, responsible and sustainable approach to investment and ownership is EQT's way of creating value for society at large. EQT has a number of partnerships to support the wider society, including local communities, and the broader financial/private equity industry.
EQT is a strong promoter of responsible investment and ownership practices and increased transparency in the private equity and financial industry. As such, EQT frequently engages in discussions with investors, peers and advisors as well as supports and participates in various conferences and seminars. EQT is an active member of Invest Europe and participates in its various other working groups/forums, including being represented on the RI Roundtable. The PRI is the world’s leading proponent of responsible investment with over 2,000 signatories around the world. The PRI acts in the long-term interests of its signatories, of the financial markets and economies in which they operate and ultimately of the environment and society as a whole. EQT became a signatory to the UN-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) in 2010 and has since 2013/14 reported according to the PRI Reporting Framework. Being a strong promoter of transparency, EQT has since inception made all its responses in the reports publicly available. The reports are available here.
Level20 is a not for profit organisation founded in 2015 by 12 women working in senior roles in private equity, aligned around a common vision of improving gender diversity in the industry. EQT has been an active promoter to the roll-out into the Nordics.
BSR is a global non-profit business network and consultancy dedicated to sustainability. BSR develops sustainable business strategies and solutions through consulting, research, and cross-sector collaboration. EQT works together with BSR on due-diligence, evaluation processes in order to address sustainability throughout the entire investment and ownership period.
To further advance society and drive positive change, EQT collaborates with academia, including meeting with, and presenting to, different schools and universities, and participating in interviews for several research papers on sustainability. EQT collaborates with organizations and institutions such as Stockholm School of Economics (including the J&M Wallenberg Chair in Innovative and Sustainable Business) and Vinnova Development, just to mention a few.
Social investments and donations
In line with its entrepreneurial spirit, EQT supports and partners with innovative organizations to accelerate action. Since 2018, EQT has invested in off-grid solar companies with operations in developing economies utilizing TRINE’s sourcing expertise and crowdfunding platform.
Already in 2010, EQT has made donations to the Door Step School, a non-profit organization providing educational support to children in the slums of Mumbai. Through yearly corporate donation from EQT and staff engagement with EQT matching, the Door Step School has become an integral part of the company culture. This was the first philanthropic initiative where the organization joined forces to make a positive impact.
EQT Foundation was set up in June 2019 as an independent foundation with a large shareholding in EQT representing an endowment of approx. SEK 1 billion. The purpose of EQT Foundation is to use the proceeds generated from its shareholding as well as other donations for the furtherance of its mission of creating a more inclusive tomorrow and pushing the frontiers of societal impact.
